Raw Local Honey — Made with Organic Beekeeping Practices | Lazy Acres Apiary
At Lazy Acres, we practice organic beekeeping on ten acres of clover and native wildflowers in Norwich, Ohio. That means no synthetic pesticides, no miticides, no antibiotics — ever. Our bees forage a chemical-free landscape, live in naturally managed hives, and are never subjected to the interventions that have become standard in commercial beekeeping. What goes into our hives is entirely natural, and that's reflected in every jar we produce.
Our honey is raw, local, and floral — strained to remove wax and debris, never heated, never over-processed. What you get is honey the way it's meant to be: rich with natural enzymes, antioxidants, and the character of whatever our bees were foraging that season.
Why raw honey is worth it: Raw honey is genuinely different from what you find on most grocery store shelves. Because it's never heated or heavily filtered, it retains the full spectrum of what makes honey remarkable — natural enzymes, antioxidants, pollen, and powerful antimicrobial compounds including hydrogen peroxide-producing properties that give it its legendary wound-healing reputation. Its low pH, rich polyphenol content, and antibacterial properties create an environment that actively inhibits bacterial growth, reduces inflammation, and supports tissue repair — and research has shown it to be effective even against antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
Local raw honey is also used by many people to support seasonal allergy relief, introducing small amounts of local pollen to help build tolerance over time. The tradition is ancient and widespread, and the science continues to catch up with what beekeepers have known for thousands of years — the Egyptians included honey in nearly half of all their recorded medical prescriptions, and modern research keeps confirming they were onto something.
Beyond the science, there's something quieter but equally real: honey from a well-kept, chemical-free hive just tastes different. Brighter. More floral. More alive. That's not marketing — it's what happens when bees are healthy, their forage is clean, and nothing interferes with what they make.
Please note: Lazy Acres is not a certified organic apiary. Organic certification for honey is extraordinarily difficult to achieve — it requires controlling forage land and flight paths within a several-mile radius, which is nearly impossible for any small apiary to guarantee. What we can tell you is exactly how we keep our bees and exactly what we don't use — and we'd put our practices up against any certified operation. We believe in full transparency, and we'll always tell you the truth about what's in your honey and how it was made.
Pre-orders accepted for bulk honey. A $50 deposit holds your order — we'll reach out when harvest is close and have your honey strained and ready for pick-up within a few days. Must email beesknowbest@gmail.com to reserve honey in bulk. Please note that all bulk honey is local pick up only.
